WHAT IS SWEDISH MASSAGE?
Swedish Massage is a light to medium touch full body massage promoting stress and tension reduction. Some Advanced Techniques may be used when applicable-1 hour minimum.
WHAT IS DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE?
Deep Tissue Massage is a technique used to get to the deeper layers of the muscles and fascia. In order for the therapist to reach these layers the outer muscle layers need to be relaxed. Therefore, a lighter technique will be used to warm up the muscles first. Some advanced Techniques may be used when applicable.
WHAT IS POLARITY THERAPY?
Developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, Polarity Therapy balances and unblocks the energy fields of the body by touching specific points. Polarity draws heavily from Ayurvedic and Chinese methods. Treatment is received fully dressed. (http://www.polaritytherapy.org)
WHAT IS HOT STONE MASSAGE?
A regular massage with the aid of smooth hot stones applied directly to the skin. This technique makes for a deeper release directly to the skin. This technique makes for a deeper release of muscle tension and an even more relaxing massage.
It is common practice to add shock treatment to the stone therapy water. This is to enable the stones to be used on several clients in succession. I DO NOT DO THIS. All stones are disinfected between treatments and the water is replaced by fresh, clean water. WHAT IS CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY?
Enhancement of, and release of restrictions in, the CranioSacral system using a very light touch (www.upledger.com).
WHAT IS LYMPH DRAINAGE THERAPY?
Very gentle hands on method to unblock and stimulate the lymphatic system, helping in detoxing the body. www.upledger.com).
WHAT IS ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT (EMS)?
EMS involves muscle testing, identifying blockages in the body and stimulating points in a specific order to encourage the body to lift the blockages. Muscle testing is also used to determine which foods and materials agree or disagree with your body (http://www.esmseminars.com/home.asp).
WHAT IS INTEGRATED ENERGY THERAPY (IET)?
IET is a hands on energy technique that offers the therapist an additional tool to tune in to the clients energy flow (http://www.integratedenergytherapy.net).
WHAT ARE ADVANCED TECHNIQUES? Trigger point: A sustained contraction of muscle fibers resulting in referred pain. Finding and working the point releases the contraction and eliminates pain.
Positional Release: Specific positioning of the client’s body is used to relieve tender spots, tight muscles or spasms.
Myofascial Release: By working the connective tissue (fascia) surrounding the muscles, the therapist can help release restrictions caused by trauma, inflammation or poor posture.
Neuromuscular: A variety of specialized pressure and strokes to address problem areas often not conducive or too sensitive to regular massage.
Reflexology: By manipulation of specific points corresponding to all major organs, glands and body parts healing powers of the body are activated. These points are located on the feet, hands and ears.
Hydrotherapy: The use of water at varying temperatures.
Pregnancy (Pre-Natal) Massage: Massage addressing the specific needs of pregnant women.
